UOIT Campus Ice & Field House, Oshawa, ON

In August 2005, Nustadia Recreation Inc. (NRI) was hired to open and operate the new Campus Ice Centre, located on the modern campus of the Ontario Tech University and Durham College, in Oshawa. The $15 M Campus Ice Centre houses two NHL size ice pads with the main pad consisting of spectator seating for 500 people. User groups include University and College teams, minor hockey associations and the Oshawa Figure Skating Club. The Centre also hosts major hockey tournaments, camps, schools and other events. The 3,000 square foot full-service restaurant and the retail sports shop enhance the overall success of the building.

The Campus Field House is located on the grounds of the ever-growing Ontario Tech and Durham College  campuses. The Campus Fieldhouse is a domed facility housing two mini-fields measuring 100’ x 150’ that can also be used as one field measuring 100’ x 300’ giving Ontario Tech and Durham College  a multi-use, year-round indoor recreation component for the students and the community. Soccer, Football, Rugby, Cricket, Lacrosse and Ultimate are examples of some of the sports that  take advantage of the facilities. The clubhouse has locker rooms,  reception and a lounge area. NRI project managed the retrofit from tennis to field sports and has a long term agreement to operate the Fieldhouse.

Vaso’s Field is a FIFA approved Artificial turf field recently completed at Ontario Tech/ Durham College. The field is used by Ontario Tech and Durham College for their Varsity Soccer and Field Lacrosse programs as well as intramural and community rental use. Vaso’s Field includes Varsity Change rooms, user group change rooms, a two-story Press Box, referee room and storage areas. NRI assisted Ontario Tech and Durham College in the development and project management of this facility and currently operates the Field on behalf of OT/ DC.
