GENERAL MANAGER
Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) Operations
Nustadia Recreation Inc. is a Canadian leader in the development, operation, and management of community recreation facilities. Through innovative partnerships with municipalities and stakeholders, Nustadia delivers high-quality, sustainable, and community-focused recreation experiences across Canada.
Within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), Nustadia operates a diverse portfolio of recreation assets under a combination of full operational mandates and service agreements. The RBC Centre (Dartmouth) and Greenfoot Energy Centre (Bedford) represent Nustadia’s primary operational responsibilities within HRM. These four-pad, high-utilization facilities serve as cornerstone assets in the region’s recreation infrastructure and require comprehensive oversight across all aspects of operations, programming, financial performance, and stakeholder engagement.
In addition, Nustadia provides operational services on a contract basis for the Emera Oval (Halifax), LeBrun Arena (Bedford) and the All-Weather Fields (4 fields throughout HRM).
Together, this portfolio demands a coordinated and strategic approach to ensure consistency in service delivery, operational excellence, and community impact across all facilities, while recognizing the differing governance and responsibility structures within each operating model.
The General Manager is responsible for:

Provide leadership and direction for all HRM facilities under Nustadia management

Champion a culture of exceptional customer service across all facilities through a Community Access Plan (CAP)

Day to day administration, operation and management of the portfolio;

Coordinating, negotiation and implementing third-party services and supplier contracts;

Facility programming development in conjunction with other senior management and stakeholders;
-
Facility maintenance;
-
Annual capital and operation budget preparation;
-
Supervision & team support, training and performance management of staff;
-
Relationship management with all stakeholders including the Municipality, tenants, facility users, and the public with respect to operational issues;

Security in coordination with the in-house team;
-
Other duties and activities required to meet the responsibilities of the facility operations.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in recreation, sport, or multi-facility operations
-
Experience managing complex, multi-site operations considered a strong asset
-
Post-secondary education in recreation management, business, or related field

Strong financial management and budgeting experience
-
Knowledge of facility systems (ice plants, HVAC, mechanical systems) is an asset
