Nustadia Recreation Inc. (Nustadia) and Wright Construction (with aodbt Architects and Architecture 49) were successful in a design-build-operate proposal that incorporated a significant fund-raising component as well as a guaranteed maximum development cost to assist the University in their capital requirements.
Merlis Belsher Place is a twin-pad ice arena and double gymnasium located at the University of Saskatchewan. It is comprised of a 90 ft. by 200 ft., 2,700-seat, spectator arena, one 300-seat community NHL sized arena, a double gymnasium, dressing and meeting rooms, concessions, fitness centre and sports medicine research area. This $43 M facility houses the University varsity hockey, basketball, and soccer team’s offices (men’s and women’s) and is home venue to USask’s Huskies Hockey as well as the local minor hockey association.
The facility is proud to be home to the Midget AAA Contacts and Midget AAA Stars of the Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association. The state-of-the-art facility is spacious and designed to provide excellent user and spectator experiences.
