Crosslink County Sportsplex –
Grande Prairie, AB
In the fall of 2011 the County of Grande Prairie and Nustadia Recreation Inc. entered into a long-term agreement to operate a multi-use regional recreation facility. Nustadia Recreation Inc. provided services including project need analysis, building program development, project design review, FF&E (furniture, fixture & equipment) procurement, facility commissioning and ongoing operations management. The Sportsplex features many of Nustadia Recreation Inc.’s environmentally friendly and energy saving trademarks such as ample natural lighting, waste heat recovery, and energy efficient mechanical.
The Crosslink County Sportsplex opened on January 2, 2013. The building is the most ambitious project the County has ever undertaken and the 176,040 sq. ft. regional facility will service the County of Grande Prairie and surrounding communities. The Sportsplex includes two NHL sized ice surfaces, a half pitch 35,000 sq. ft. soccer Fieldhouse surrounded by a high performance 240 meter running track, a 4,000 sq. ft. fitness area, and a multipurpose meeting room for meetings and special events. Other amenities include a food and beverage outlet overlooking the ice surfaces, a Jugo Juice refreshment outlet, a pro shop, and free internet service throughout the facility.
The vision for the Sportsplex is to create a facility that is a centre of recreation activity for the County and a source of pride for all County residents by providing quality services for the community, and generating sport tourism opportunities that benefit the entire region. The Sportsplex will also be the anchor facility for eight fine turf athletic fields, opening the fall of 2014, including two rugby pitches, a premier soccer/football field, two full sized soccer pitches and three mini soccer pitches. Not only will the Sportsplex provide for all on ice activities, but the complex will bring football, rugby, soccer, athletics, and fitness opportunities to the region.
